Rebates for Clothes Washers High-efficiency residential clothes washers use as little as 18 gallons of water per load, saving more than 50% in water and energy costs. Area cities are working together with PG&E to offer a combined water-energy rebate of $150 on certain high-efficiency models. Washer retailers have the application and eligible washer list. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) customers may qualify for a rebate by recycling old refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners. Refrigerators or freezers must be 10-30 cubic feet each, empty and working. There is a limit of two units per household per year. The service and pickup are free.
