The workshops are brought to you through a collaboration and sponsorship of: the City of Napa, UC Master Gardener’s, County of Napa, Upper Valley Waste Management Agency, and the City of American Canyon. 

Home composting not your thing? Did you know you can put all your food soiled paper products (paper plates, pizza boxes, napkins, paper based to go containers, etc) into your brown compost cart alongside all your food! That includes meat, dairy and bones – items that do not belong in your home compost! For more information check out our page on Home Food Composting. 

Home Composting Workshop Signups

Learn to reduce and eliminate yard trimmings and turn it into wonderfully rich, free compost for your garden. Discover the basics of backyard composting, composting with worms and grasscycling. Become familiar with tools, types of bins and the ins and outs of recycling yard trimmings, garden waste, and even some food scraps. Learn about Grasscycling. Grass clippings release valuable nutrients back into the soil.

Backyard Composting Workshop
Saturday, May 1st
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (allowing time for Q&A)
Maximum class size: 40
*Coordination for the actual backyard composter will be scheduled after registration. It will be a curbside pick up in downtown Napa. More details will be in the follow up email re: scheduling pick up.
You must complete the workshop in order to purchase the discounted backyard compost bin for $20.00. One per family/household.

Maximum class size: 20
*Coordination for the worm composting materials (container, materials, worms) will take place after you have registered for the class. Pick up will be coordinated for the same day as the class, as you will be building it with the host.
