Participating households will receive a yellow crate to collect the soft plastics. Inside the crate, there will be two bags: a clear plastic bag and a blue plastic bag. The clear bag is for collecting flexible film plastics and the blue bag is for collecting multi-layered plastics. See examples further down this page to see what goes where.

For opt-in households:                                                                                                        Once you fill up your bag(s), request a pickup online or give us a call at (707) 255-5200. Then place your full bag(s) in the crate and set it curbside next to your carts on your collection day. We’ll pick up the full bags and leave new bags in your crate.

For selected households:                                                                                                    Once you fill up your bag(s), place your full bag(s) in the crate and set it curbside next to your carts on your collection day.  We’ll pick up your full bags and leave new bags in your crate.

Great question! You are welcome to drop off your clean, dry film plastics and multi-layer plastics at our Napa Recycling office. It is located at 598 Lincoln Ave., Napa and is open on Monday to Friday from 8:30am-5pm.

Plastic packaging is made of different types of plastic. This pilot is designed to test approaches for collecting film and flexible packaging and gather data to inform future program planning. Since clear plastic film is made of a different type of plastic material than multi-layer plastic film, we are currently testing to see if it is possible to collect them separately.

Great question! The items going in the clear bag are made of LDPE plastic which currently have a market to be recycled when sorted separately. The items in the blue bag currently do not have a market, but we are collecting them to determine if there could be potential markets to recycle them.

Currently, the pilot is open for single-family residents only. If you would like, you can drop off your soft plastic items at our Napa Recycling office located at 598 Lincoln Ave., Napa.

Currently, large shrink wrap generators can join the commercial flexible film pilot. If you are a small business, you can drop off your shrink wrap at Napa Recycling’s facility located at 820 Levitin Way, American Canyon.

This pilot is funded by Circular Action Alliance. It is a limited pilot to collect data to inform future program planning.
